DESCRIPTION

Supply Chain Manager handles the procurement of goods and services for a company. Manages each part of the supply chain to ensure consistent delivery of goods and services while identifying possible obstacles that may affect productivity. Ensures Weatherby has the optimum supply to support the build plan and forecast. Work involves issuing purchase orders, anticipating and communicating delivery status, communicating with vendors, identifying and communicating status of expedited items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business.
  • Maintaining relationships with suppliers for both domestic and international, while continually scouting for additional vendors.
  • Evaluating suppliers’ performance to key metrics, coach in areas of weakness, and drive improvement as related to Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Responsiveness.
  • Communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production.
  • Conducting cost & inventory analyses, benchmarking, and driving performance improvement.
  • Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
  • Continuously improve reporting frameworks, tools and processes to ensure access to timely, accurate and actionable data.
  • Supervising purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Marketing to ensure smooth introduction of new products while minimizing obsolescence, communicate pending part shortages/excesses, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Ensuring contracts and terms are negotiated, favorable, and put in-place.
  • Generate and submit purchase orders in accordance with the company policies and procedures, following chain of approval.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing to develop and execute supply replenishment strategies, forecasts, material contingencies, prioritizations / expediting, and logistics.
  • Ability to anticipate, mitigate, and synthesize creative solutions to Supply Chain issues.
  • Ability to complete and file necessary ATF and Government Required Documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred from an accredited college or university and/or 5+ years in supply chain management, purchasing or procurement. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of completion of a degree program.
  • Experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience with Sage ERP, MS Dynamics, Epicor, Oracle, SAP or similar ERP system is a plus

This job operates in a clerical office setting, routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, this position may be exposed to the manufacturing/factory environment and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud.
