Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Williamsport Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will support the local team’s safety, quality, and engineering initiatives and processes to reduce quality issues, waste, and ensure ongoing compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

The Quality Engineer will support the organization’s development of quality standards for all direct and indirect processes that can affect product quality or the total customer experience. This may include raw materials, in-process products, and finished products inspection and acceptance as well as the design of new, complex, or innovative measures, tests, sampling methods, and other procedures that ensure that these standards are met.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with the Quality Manager to analyze processes and identify areas of improvement to ensure that RTFT (Right the First Time), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and other KPIs are achieved.
  • Support the Quality Manager with customer visits/audits/failure analysis as well as customer claims management and resolution.
  • Provide technical expertise and hands on support to Operations on product/process quality matters. Interpret applicable requirements, make conclusions, and issues technical reports of findings.
  • Review QMS documentation and monitor such documents to ensure they are accurate, complete, and that they reflect most up-to-date regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement, and waste and cost reduction projects/activities/programs.
  • Assist with internal and external quality audits and meet with regulatory agencies during facility inspections/audits as required.
  • Interface with customer and certifying agency representatives during scheduled and non-scheduled plant visits.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the documentation associated with the various inspections and communicates throughout the plant organization.
  • Help to develop and communicate effective quality and performance metrics. Adhere to quality metrics (both internal and external), and report on the cost of quality and quality improvement results.
  • May liaise on behalf of the Quality Manager with external vendors, contractors, or suppliers to ensure that their products or services meet the organization’s quality standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or other related technical degree
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality system requirements

Preferred:

  • Experience with wire and cable manufacturing
